Growing up in Mexico, there was never a moment when music wasn’t playing in the background of Hugo de la Cerda’s home. This sparked an early interest in sound and music, beginning of a lifelong journey of curiosity and continuous learning. After graduating from the Recording Engineering program at Full Sail University, Hugo worked recording, editing and mixing music for advertising and dramatic television. A few years later he moved to Vancouver, Canada where he became a staff mixer at a sound post facility and worked his way up to lead re-recording mixer. Throughout the years he kept in touch with his Mexican colleagues and incorporated their diverse methodologies and workflows to his own. In 2013 he moved across the country with his family to Toronto. Over his 30-year career, Hugo has worked in all areas of professional sound, including recording, editing and mixing music, sound effects, foley, ADR, and even location sound. Within Hugo's sound career, he has been nominated multiple times and has been awarded 3 Leo Awards for his work on the TV series “Sanctuary”, “Stargate: Atlantis” and “100 Days in the Jungle”.
