Biography

Over the course of two decades, three-time Gemini award nominee John Dykstra has won a reputation for understanding each client’s particular preference and turning that into reality in the mix theatre. After launching his career at Masters Workshop as an audio assistant 20 years ago, John joined Technicolor Post Toronto - now a Streamland Media Company, as a Foley/ADR recordist in 1999. He began mixing sound in 2005 and was promoted to senior Re-recording Mixer in 2011. He received a CSA nomination for best sound in 2024 for SurrealEstate, 2019 for Murdoch Mysteries, and in 2011 a Gemini best sound nomination for Flashpoint, and Degrassi Takes Manhattan.
