Nadya Hanlon traces her connection to sound back to her roots in music. Having played the double bass in orchestra, she developed a deep appreciation for the collaborative power of a group. That appreciation extends to the team of industry professionals needed to create a complex and singular experience of sound on screen. Passionate about the nuances of sound, Nadya finds inspiration in moments where space is given to sound, allowing it to breathe and contribute authentically to the narrative. Reflecting on scenes like the opening of 'Drive,' she admires the ground-breaking work that elevates storytelling through intentional and respectful sound design. In 2014, she immersed herself in a six-month audio engineering work study at the Banff Centre. During this experience, she engaged in various recording practices, collaborated with renowned artists like Kid Koala and Daniel Lanois, and received invaluable mentorship from industry luminaries such as George Massenburg and Richard King. Nadya brings a wealth of collaborative and communicative skills to her work. Her genuine fascination with people and their stories, coupled with a love for the history of film, fuels her ongoing appreciation for learning within the industry. Nadya's exploration of sound effects and dialogue editing paved the way for her commitment to Foley editing, and an understanding of the transformative role human performance plays in the magic of film.
