Re-recording mixer and sound editor, Stacy Coutts’ interest in sound began when she was a child collecting records, starting with Prince’s Purple Rain (which she still has) and perfecting mix tape recordings from the radio. She went on to study at the Harris Institute for the Arts, graduating in 1999 with an Honors diploma in Producing / Engineering. Stacy began her career as an intern at Casablanca Sound & Picture and was hired as a re-recording mixer assistant. She later made the jump to recordist and re-recording mixer while working at Urban Post Production. For the last 13 years she has been a freelance re-recording mixer, recordist and sound editor, joining the Directors Guild of Canada as a Sound Editor in 2017. Working as both a sound editor and re-recording mixer gives Stacy a deep appreciation of what it takes to create the sound scape. Stacy has worked on the television projects Another Life for Netflix, Circuit Breakers for Apple TV and Letterkenny for Hulu. She has earned three Canadian Screen Award nominations for her work on Cardinal and most recently a nomination for Best Sound – Fiction for her work on Pretty Hard Cases.
