Thank you to everyone who joined us in Toronto for Behind the Camera House during TIFF!
Produced in partnership with Impact24 PR, Picture Shop, and Tonebenders, the afternoon brought together close to 100 industry professionals for a day of conversations, creativity, and connection. Hosted at Picture Shop’s Toronto facility, the event featured Picture Shop artists alongside talented filmmakers and creative professionals visiting Toronto for the festival.
The afternoon included four behind-the-scenes panels and networking mixers, exploring the creative disciplines and collaboration that bring stories to life across film, television, and video games.
The day kicked off with Behind the Sound, Music, and Editing That Brings Stories to Life, moderated by Timothy Muirhead, Producer and Host of the Tonebenders Podcast. The panel featured Jane MacRae, Editor; Matt Chan, Picture Shop Re-Recording Mixer and Sound Supervisor; Mikel Hurwitz, Composer; Mohamed El-Manasterly, Editor; Peter Albrechtsen, Sound Designer; and Simon Poole, Composer. The conversation explored how sound, music, and editing work together to shape emotion, atmosphere, and storytelling.
The third panel, Cinematography, Color & the Art of the Image, was moderated by Byron Kent Wong, Executive Director, Canadian Society of Cinematographers. The panel brought together Bobby Shore, CSC, Cinematographer; Boris Mojsovski, ASC, CSC, ASBH, Cinematographer/Director; Brett Trider and Paul Allia, Picture Shop Senior Colorists. The discussion explored the creative relationship between cinematography and color, and how lighting, composition, camera choices, and grading work together to create a project’s distinctive visual identity.
The afternoon also featured The Creatives Shaping Film, Television & Video Games and The Creative Minds Behind TIFF’s Most Anticipated Films, bringing additional perspectives from creatives working across the screen industries.
